Collection: Sumi-e(墨絵)
"Sumi-e"(墨絵)(pronounced: Sue-me-eh) or "Suiboku-ga" is a Japanese painting style adapted from China in the 14th century. The same paint brush used for Japanese calligraphy called "Fude" is used with ceramic glaze to draw the pictures, one piece at a time. Each piece is carefully drawn by hand with element being painted in a single-stroke. The virtue of each Sumi-e painting is that it makes every piece truly, one-and-only unique per item unlike other volume production methods. However subtle, every piece has its very own character, and adds life to the creation.
